It Summer vacation time so managed to squeeze in a couple of SOTA summits;

Mynydd Carningli (GW/MW-033) in Wales. I hiked up from the waters edge in Parrog making this a half days activation. There’s very little space at the summit and a school outing had taken over when I arrived so I had to go off-piste a bit making it tough to set up the dipole. On the up side I did get to tell about 50 kids what Amateur Radio was all about.

Wendover Woods (G/CE-005) in the Chilterns. I had aimed to park by the roadside as recommended by M0JCQ but forestry work and diversions guided me to the main car-park. I still hiked along the top of the hill to the field with the trig point just to get away from the crowds. Terrible propagation but being a SOTA Summit drew in some QSOs.

This month I tried (unsuccessfully) making a multi-band EFHW aerial for the kayak. More thought needed for this project.
